Inside the shield is the double headed eagle, a symbol of the Slavic people in southern Europe handed down from the Byzantine Empire. The chest of the eagle has a small red shield which is divided into four areas by a white cross. In each area, there is a firearm similar to the Cyrillic letter C, which represents the pronunciation of S and symbolizes the national motto of (only unite to save the Serbs).
